Lisa teaches a range of private and group classes at her home studio located at Glenbrook Beach in Franklin, South Auckland.

Learn how to use the pottery wheel. In these one on one classes we'll cover all the beginner basics; focusing on wedging clay, centering on the wheel and pulling cylinders. If you return we’ll cover trimming/turning your forms, and glazing if you want to fire your work. Or choose a glaze and collect your work after the firings.

Wheel throwing for 2 people (wheel share)

Perfect for a group of 3 or 4 people; learn how to make mugs, cups, jugs and small bowls using slab building and coiling techniques. Choose a glaze and collect your work after the firings.

- glazing techniques

In this session we will cover; preparing your pieces before glazing, a choice of a range of glazes that will suit the clay body of your pieces & different glazing techniques.

In this 1 and 1/2 day taster workshop you will learn techniques to create simple forms for an open cast mould that will go into the kiln. This workshop is suitable for beginners, who are interested in learning the cast glass process. We will be press printing using clay, exploring with different textures, mark making and relief, creating simple forms suitable for an open cast mould. (Bring in textured materials that can be easily pressed into clay, which will be translated into the glass). You will learn how to make a refractory mould and select glass for the kiln firing.

Your moulds will be fired in a kiln during the week for your return the following weekend. Return to de-mould and reveal your glass, we’ll go over simple finishing techniques (cold-working) for your glass object.

What's Included: All materials; up to 1kg glass, refractory mould material, clay, P2 mask, Tools, Kiln Firing, Light refreshments

What to bring: Apron, respirator (P2 masks are provided), lunch & snacks, sculpting tools (these are available to share) textured materials - textured cloth & material, foliage, bark, foil, corrugated card etc
